Our vision is to equip farmers with innovative solutions for sustainable and effective harvesting to produce healthy food.
Provide farmers with robust and reliable tools for automatic and sustainable picking of soft berries and fruits.
A rising world population requires innovation and automatization to be able to provide healthy food and berries for the increasing demand in the world market. Farmers face challenges with recruiting and maintaining staff for picking strawberries. Pål Johan From saw this challenge and engaged his PhD student Ya Xiong who developed a strawberry picker under his guidance. This was the basis for the two of them cofounding NORONN with Katharina R. Asting who took on the position as CEO. To further develop the solution and test with farmers, the company got funding from the Norwegian Research Council and recruited more development resources. In addition to own employees NORONN collaborate with universities and use expertise and PhD students from NMBU in Norway and Lincoln University in UK. We work closely with farmers to get input, test in the field and ensure the solution meets the needs of modern farming. NORONN also has close cooperation with Saga Robotics, the company developing the robotic platform Thorvald which the picker is mounted on.
